 [12:04:50] <jeffles>  daryn's at boot camp

 [12:05:18] <jeffles>  ibm boot camp
[12:05:22] <karenreid>  okay. Did the punchlines get sent to someone for posting or did that just get dropped this week.
 [12:05:23] <karenreid>  ?
[12:05:33] <jeffles>  yeah mike has them
[12:05:38] <klejao>  he appears online on IBM chat service
 [12:05:46] <karenreid>  hi mikeing2001
 [12:06:04] <mikeing2001>  hi
 [12:06:18] <mikeing2001>  punchlines are posted
 [12:06:25] <mikeing2001>  i had a meeting that ran long
 [12:06:28] <karenreid>  mikeing2001: thanks
[12:08:57] <karenreid>  My first comment is more for Daryn, but I suspect everyone will run into this at some point. Please ask on irc and/or markus-dev if you are having git/github problems. It is always better to figure these things out with someone who has seen a lot of different variations.
 [12:09:21] <karenreid>  Next, let's do the rounds.
[12:09:46] <karenreid>  klejao: tell us a bit more about 760 and why it seems more difficult
[12:10:31] <klejao>  yes. this is about the Submissions page when logged on as a TA
[12:11:06] <klejao>  the code is ignoring the filter attribute and set it to 'assigned'
[12:11:59] <klejao>  I changed it so that it reads other values like 'partial', 'completed' but if you choose say 'partial', it will show all partially marked submissions even the ones that are not assigned to the TA
[12:12:35] <klejao>  so this is probably the reason why they ignored the value and set it as 'assigned'
 [12:13:13] <karenreid>  ah
[12:13:15] <klejao>  there are two ways to solve it, 1. leave it as it is, but do not show the drop down menu at all.
 [12:13:35] <klejao>  because that's misleading
 [12:14:05] <klejao>  2. fix the query (I think it's the grouping)
[12:14:37] <karenreid>  It is a feature that TAs want, so 2 would be my preference.
[12:14:50] <klejao>  2 would be my preference as well
 [12:14:54] <karenreid>  :-)
 [12:15:57] <karenreid>  mikeing2001: your turn
[12:16:09] <karenreid>  Nice to see issues getting shipped. :-)
 [12:16:32] <mikeing2001>  yup, i ship 2 issues, working on another 2 currently
[12:17:35] <mikeing2001>  other than that, not much to say besides that i need time to figure out how to do this new way for remote_function
[12:18:05] <karenreid>  jeffles: is this related to what you are working on with the unobtrusive js?
[12:18:20] <jeffles>  yes sounds like the same thing
[12:18:31] <mikeing2001>  yes it does to me too
 [12:18:35] <jeffles>  lets dance
[12:18:59] <tobioboye>  mikeing2001: there are some examples around the app
[12:19:07] <karenreid>  check with ddadacha and tobioboye for more info
 [12:19:10] <karenreid>  tobioboye: :-)
[12:19:13] <jeffles>  i remember some of the issues linked to tutorals
[12:19:37] <tobioboye>  hello everyone. I was just eavesdropping
[12:19:41] <jeffles>  there are even transition guides online that outline exactly what to do i remember seeing
[12:19:57] <karenreid>  tobioboye: are there still outstanding reviews/pull requests for some of these issues?
[12:20:05] <mikeing2001>  tobioboye: ok thanks, i will try and find the examples
[12:20:29] <ddadacha>  yeah I have a few that I don't think have made it into master
[12:20:34] <ddadacha>  but are somewhere on review
[12:20:39] <tobioboye>  karenreid: yeah last weekend I worked on the release marks unit tests making some of the changes jerboaa recommended
 [12:20:59] <karenreid>  thanks!
[12:21:19] <tobioboye>  I got a little stuck with testing the contents of the different steps that need to be taken before marks can be released by instructors
[12:21:46] <tobioboye>  but I will finish off the rest this weekend
[12:23:12] <jeffles>  so do you think the best approach is to make some sort of funky global find and replace to do it all at once?
[12:24:34] <karenreid>  If the issues converge to a standard solution then it should be possible to just go through and squash them all. We found in the winter that it wasn't that straight forward much of the time.
[12:26:13] <karenreid>  (hmm github seems to be having problems right now)
[12:27:12] <karenreid>  The bottom line is that we aren't going to be able to release the next version until we fix all the routing errors. And the easier we make it to move to 3.1 or 3.2 the better off the next team will be.
 [12:27:34] <karenreid>  jeffles: your turn
 [12:27:52]  Nick change: tobioboye -> tobioboye_afk
[12:30:26] <jeffles>  i haven't been able to do too much this week
 [12:30:31] <jeffles>  been working on 373
[12:31:00] <mikeing2001>  by 373 you mean course right
 [12:31:04] <jeffles>  csc373
 [12:31:08] <jeffles>  yes. it's torture
[12:31:20] <klejao>  you will have fun
[12:31:31] <jeffles>  yes the time of my life
[12:31:33] <mikeing2001>  we all had fun with that course
[12:32:36]  *** karenreid detects a note of sarcasm
[12:32:39] <jeffles>  i did have a chance to fix a bug with the graph distribution, and also tried porting individual ajax links to ujs
 [12:33:06] <jeffles>  373 is interesting at least
[12:33:17] <jeffles>  just the whole no lecture notes deal is a bit painful this term
[12:33:57] <karenreid>  I may be wrong, but it would be worth checking with Benjamin_V to see if anyone has worked on 567. I thought some students in france were looking into it.
[12:33:58] <jeffles>  anyways that's why i was wondering about making some sort of regex thing& going through all of the remote functions by hand is possible but tedious
[12:34:12] <karenreid>  jeffles: I should ask sometime how Siavosh is doing as an instructor.
 [12:34:43] <jeffles>  he's articulate but maybe unpolished
[12:35:00] <karenreid>  jeffles: if you can partially automate the fix, by all means go for it, but my guess is that it will take some hand coding anyway.
 [12:35:16] <jeffles>  alright
[12:35:29] <karenreid>  jeffles: I'd have thought that having something straightforward and a bit tedious would be a good break from thinking hard about algorithms ;-)
 [12:35:45] <karenreid>  Sounds good overall.
[12:36:18] <karenreid>  We have one more meeting next week before I go on vacation, so I'd like to make sure that everyone is setup next week with sufficient work.
 [12:36:35] <karenreid>  I will be away July 12 and 19
[12:39:16] <karenreid>  We talked about having a sprint day. I could potentially do July 28 or 29.
[12:39:35] <mikeing2001>  both sounds good for me
[12:39:39] <jeffles>  sure. mike do you want to get together sunday to do the ujs stuff?
 [12:39:44] <karenreid>  or Aug 11 or 12.
 [12:39:56] <jeffles>  anytime is good
[12:40:01] <karenreid>  Do you have a preference for saturday or Sunday?
 [12:40:15] <mikeing2001>  no
[12:40:48] <klejao>  i dont have any preference either
[12:42:36] <mikeing2001>  jeffles: sure sunday sounds fine, but it will have to be at like 2pm
 [12:42:42] <mikeing2001>  or later
[12:42:42] <karenreid>  Okay, I'll send out email proposing July 28. I'll take everyone out for lunch, and bring snacks.
[12:42:46] <jeffles>  i'm not sure if daryn is still doing dragon boat on saturday still
[12:43:06] <mikeing2001>  i thought daryn is done dragon boat
[12:43:11] <karenreid>  I'm flexible, so we can see what works best.
[12:43:18] <klejao>  he's a busy guy but Im sure he can make it work if we tell him early
[12:43:26] <karenreid>  That's it for me. Thanks everyone.
 [12:43:48] <jeffles>  sounds good
[12:43:57] <klejao>  mikeing2001 jeffles you are meeting on sunday?
 [12:44:05] <mikeing2001>  yea
[12:44:05] <jeffles>  yeah. you should come
 [12:44:15] <klejao>  if it's 2pm or later I can come
 [12:44:16] <mikeing2001>  yes klejao
[12:44:30] <mikeing2001>  i don't think i can get up that early this sunday
[12:44:32] <klejao>  what time are you going downtown
 [12:45:15] <mikeing2001>  i don't know, mostly likely i won't leave until like 1 pm
[12:45:33] <klejao>  that should be ok.
 [12:46:31] <klejao>  see you then
